A NOTE FROM PASTOR ROGER – 10/30/19

A Note From
Pastor Roger

It’s official.

It’s official that all of the pastors at Generation Church are deeply humbled by all the wonderful cards we received for “Pastor Appreciation Sunday”.

We thank you for all the kind words that were expressed. It’s safe to say that after reading all of them, we all had a new “bounce in our step“.

It made me realize once again, the POWER of expressing thanks to each other.

Hebrews 3:13 says: "But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness."

Now, I was thinking about the end of that verse. It is quite interesting to me that if you encourage someone it can actually keep them from becoming hardened which is SIN and sin is deceiving.

So I’m thinking....what's the deception? Maybe a better way to say it is....what’s the “sinful trap?
I think the sinful traps are vast. But if you dwell on something long enough, you simply get hardened, and that is sinful.

"It’s too big. I’ve lost hope. God doesn’t care. I can’t take another day. It’s not worth it. I’m not good enough. I should quit. I will never amount to anything. The roads too hard. It will never end. It’s impossible."
(You get the picture)

Then one day, someone comes along and encourages you. They speak life into the situation. They speak the truth of Gods word. It revives your soul. Truth replaces a lie.

Then.... things start to happen. God “SOFTENS” your heart. (you are no longer hard; stemming from the encouragement) Progress is made. You’re no longer bound. You see things clearly. It’s the new you.

Let’s look at the verse again: “But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness."

Encouragement. I want to be that person that freely gives it.

Thanks so much for the letters. 🙂

Pastor Roger
