A Note From

Are you Dehydrated? Sort of like a dry, unused sponge hidden and forgotten in your house somewhere?
I remember one time, I got very sick and could not eat or drink. I was slowly becoming dehydrated. It got so bad that I had to go to the hospital. Immediately, the doctor put an IV in my arm and fluids began to flow through my body.
I could feel the life returning to my body. It was almost immediate. I was now being saturated with life.

It all started when I was visiting another country and I ate something that caused a parasite. The presence of the parasite then led to infection within my body and the dehydration soon followed a couple weeks later. It was hard for me to walk or even stand.

Often our hearts and souls consume things that can begin to eat away our strength. In some ways, it is like an infection. It starts out small (often unknowingly) but it begins to grow. It begins to make us week and unproductive. We are not able to walk or or even stand.

We need to be hydrated. We need an intervention. We need something to penetrate into our deepest parts. God’s word does that. It reaches into the joints and marrow of our souls and begins a work of healing. It’s alive and it’s active.

Hebrews 4:12-13 says, "For the word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword; it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account."

If you are feeling a little lethargic and weak, how about a nice refreshing infusion of God’s life giving word. An infusion of hope, life, resilience, determination, and faith.

My hospital visit lasted for about three days but I came out feeling good as new. My body was finally rid of the horrible infection that was robbing my strength. Don’t be robbed, get hydrated.
