A Note From
When you plant something, it is imperative that it begins to take root.
If that process does not happen, then the plant will eventually die for lack of nutrients.
Once we have been rooted in Christ's love, we can then begin a process of going deeper and deeper in our experience of the love of God.
Do you really have a DEEP revelation of God's love for you?
Rooted and grounded in love is a mixed metaphor. Paul mixes an agricultural metaphor with a construction metaphor.
When you are absolutely CERTAIN of God’s love for you, then you are “rooted” like a plant. Yes, the storms will come but you're "dug in" for the long-haul.
It is then that we begin to grow and bear much fruit. When you are CERTAIN of God’s love for you, it is like the solid foundation of a building.
The word grounded is literally translated as a "foundation of a house." You are FIRST, established on a foundation of God’s love, THEN, (and only then) can the building (your productive life) can be constructed.
