A Note From
Whenever I jump in the ocean, I have this wonderful awareness of the healing properties in salt. I swim around thinking, "Come on salt, do your thing."
Jesus told us we are to be like salt.
Salt had two purposes in the first century. First, It was used to preserve food, especially meat. Did you know we are to be preservatives to the world around ud as well? We preserve it from the forces of evil and all that is corrupted by sin.
Secondly, salt was used, just like now, as a flavor enhancer. Trust me, my french fries are going to have salt.:)
Christ followers stand out as those who “enhance” the flavor of life in this world.
Christians, living under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and in obedience to Christ, will inevitably influence the world for good, as salt has a positive influence on the flavor of the food it seasons.
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.” (Matthew 5:13)
