Water Baptism is first and foremost an act of faith and obedience to the commands of Christ.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20
Baptism is a conscious and public declaration of an inward profession of faith. You declare that you have been unified in His death, burial, and resurrection. You acknowledge that you are dead to sin and have come alive in Christ.
Baptism is letting the world know: "I have decided to follow Jesus!"
